Wang Yi Meets with Head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan Saida Mirziyoyeva

On August 26, 2026, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan Saida Mirziyoyeva in Beijing.

Wang Yi conveyed the cordial greetings of President Xi Jinping to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, noting that under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China-Uzbekistan relations have achieved leapfrog development and reached a new level as an all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership for the new era. China has always been a sincere partner that Uzbekistan can trust and rely on, and will, as always, support Uzbekistan in safeguarding its national sovereignty, security and development interests, support Uzbekistan in following a development path suited to its national conditions, and support President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s policies and measures for advancing the construction of a “New Uzbekistan.” Wang Yi expressed confidence that Uzbekistan will continue to render firm support to China on issues concerning China’s core interests. China is ready to work with Uzbekistan to follow the important common understandings reached by the two heads of state, strengthen high-level exchanges, accelerate the construction of landmark projects such as the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, advance mutually beneficial cooperation in economy, trade and investment, energy and mineral resources, people-to-people exchanges and sub-national affairs, expand cooperation in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence and renewable energy, and enhance multilateral coordination and collaboration, so as to write a new chapter in China-Uzbekistan friendly cooperation.

Saida Mirziyoyeva conveyed the sincere greetings of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to President Xi Jinping, stating that the profound friendship between the two leaders has guided Uzbekistan-China relations to new heights. This year marks the 35th anniversary of Uzbekistan’s independence. Uzbekistan appreciates China’s valuable and longstanding assistance to its national development, and wishes to further learn from China’s experience in governance, particularly its experience in poverty alleviation. Uzbekistan looks forward to maintaining high-level exchanges with China, enhancing strategic mutual trust, deepening practical cooperation in agriculture, science and technology, mineral resources, people-to-people exchanges, education, and the digital economy, and advancing the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway. Uzbekistan is ready to work with China to jointly promote the development and strengthening of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
